Why is important to do Microsoft updates?
Most computers in the world have some Windows operating system install in their computers and I believe that is one of the reason hackers pick Microsoft products more often that the others. The latest Windows version is Windows 7 but there are still some Windows Vista, and Windows XP.
Because of the hackers’ attacks, Microsoft releases its updates once a month or when are need it. The updates are very important because it helps to protect your computer to possible Windows' treats. Do not get confuse here, this updates only protects Microsoft products.
Windows has an update option in all Windows version; you have to make sure that is configuring to receive updates. The above image shows the Windows XP update option. You can select any one, but DO NOT turn it off. Follow this instruction to verify or enable Windows updates:
- Point the mouse to the icon called my computer and right click.
- Select properties.
- Select Automatic Updates
- Select one of the options
You can also update through the Internet. Microsoft has an update website. Follow this instruction to access Microsoft updates website:
- Click start
- All programs
- Select Windows update
- After the web page opens, select express
- Follow the prompt. You may need to do this many times because after some updates the system may require to reboot.
The instructions were for Windows XP home or Professional edition only.
Windows Vista and Windows 7 have a different way to access the Windows update and have a different presentation. Follow these instructions to access Microsoft updates:
- Point the mouse to the icon called my computer and right click
- Select properties
- Select Windows Updates at the bottom
- Select change settings
- Select one of the options
The Manual update is similar to Windows XP; however, Windows 7 will take you back to the Windows update screen in the computer.
